Congratulations to Karla Lopez, Jordan Gass and Daravuth Cheam for receiving a College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Student Travel Grant and a Charlotte Mangum travel award to attend the 2019 Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology meetings in Tampa, FL Jan 3-8.
Both Karla and Jordan will be presenting their research as poster presentations, which are “Zombie bacteria: how to naturally transform your symbionts through targeted mutations in an animal/bacterial mutualism (Jordan)” and “You talkin to me?” Interspecies communication fosters collaboration between closely related symbionts in the sepiolid squid-Vibrio mutualism (Karla)”. Davaruth’s oral presentation is “Noshing on Vibrio- how grazing outside the host determines fitness inside the host”.
